National Merit Scholarship

High School students enter this academic competition for recognition and scholarships by taking the PSAT in October, their junior year.  The following April, high scoring participants are invited to select two colleges to which they would like to be referred.  The next September, these students are notified that they qualified for either a “Commendation” or “Semifinalist”.  Semifinalists advance to Finalist standing by meeting academic and other requirements.
