Welcome to the Monte Vista Research and Technology Academy! This site provides information on the "School within a school" that began in the Fall of 2000. While browsing this site, please feel free contact the academy with questions and comments. The Research and Technology Academy seeks: Curious and creative students who can demonstrate interest and strength in a specific area of study. The Academy will focus on the development of critical thinking skills and student ownership of their work. The course of study will link the subject areas of English and Science during the 9th and 10 gradesin an instructional program based upon integrated instruction emphasizing research techniques. The Academy seeks to accept a diverse population of students who are willing to take some educational risks, who are inquisitive and thoughtful, who can work well in groups, who can accept challenges. There is no minimum grade point requirement, although the Academy is not quipped to provide remediation for serious skill deficiencies. Students are expected to demonstrate excellent citizenship, attendance, and academic application. NOTE: Students who do not reside in the Monte Vista attendance area must first apply and be approved for intra-district transfer prior to applying to the Academy Information is available at the SRVUSD District Office at 552-5500.
