Program Details
In the fall of 2000-2001, Monte Vista High School opened the doors to the Research & Technology Academy. Application to the Academy is open to
freshmen and sophomores. Students in the Academy receive specialized instruction
in English and science with an emphasis on research techniques:
questioning, investigating, analyzing and interpreting findings, reporting data,
evaluating and revising hypotheses, presenting conclusions. Students use various
technology tools throughout their Academy experience.
The Academy is based upon a school-within-a-school model. Students attend designated
Academy classes in English and Earth/Physical Science or Biology. The remainder of the day
students take courses within the general program which includes foreign
language, Physical Education, math, and elective courses.
