Athletic Training

Lisa Gehrer, M.A., AT

Lisa is in her first year as Monte Vista’s certified athletic trainer over seeing all sporting events, practices, and the overall health of the student-athletes.  She attended Liberty High School and then DVC where she began her career in Athletic Training.  Lisa then transferred to CSU, Fresno where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training.  In 2010, she received her national certification. Following Fresno State, she went on to work as a Graduate Assistant at Fresno Pacific University, a small NCAA D2 school in Fresno, and obtained her Masters in Athletic Training.  Over the past 8 years she has worked at Fresno Pacific in a various of roles, but most recently as the Associate Director of Sports Medicine. Lisa has experience working with a variety of collegiate sports and is excited to begin her career at Monte Vista.
 
 
 
Michael G. Michlitsch, M.D.
Team Physician

Dr. Michlitsch is in his seventh year covering Monte Vista athletics.  After earning his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center before completing his subspecialty training with a sports medicine and shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship in Pasadena, CA.
 
His professional expertise is in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, with a surgical specialization in arthroscopic knee, shoulder, and elbow surgery.  His goal of patient care centers around the effective return of patients to sports and pain-free activities after their orthopaedic care and rehabilitation.
 
Dr. Michlitsch also serves as an associate team physician at St. Mary's College.  A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, he is board certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery and the subspecialty of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
 
"My personal passion for sports and commitment to staying abreast of new techniques in the field allows me to provide the best personalized treatment for each patient.  Besides caring for the young athlete, my own growing family inspires me to also help parents and grandparents achieve a quality of life and the ability to experience their children and grandchildren in the most active way."
 
A physician of Muir Orthopaedic Specialist, Inc., Dr. Michlitsch sees patients in the Muir Orthopaedic Specialists offices in San Ramon and Walnut Creek.
