Incoming 9th Grade Auditions

When:  Thursday March 22 from 4-6pm

Where:  MV small gym

For those interested in taking Dance at Monte Vista:

  • Dance offers either PE or Fine Arts credit.  *** However, 9th graders must still take PE 9, so Freshmen taking dance will receive Fine Art credit.

  • Dance 1 is a basic Introduction to Dance, for which any 9-12th grade student can register.  No dance experience is required.

  • Dance 2-5 are more advanced classes that require a prerequisite class, or an audition.

    • For incoming 9th graders who may have a background in dance, or would like to participate in a more intermediate or advanced level, they can choose to audition.

TRYOUTS:

  • Thursday, March 22nd, from 4-6 pm.

  • At tryouts dancers should come a few minutes early to warm up, and be prepared to start dancing at 4 pm.  Please dress in appropriate dance attire, (leggings with a fitted top is fine).  No street clothes (jeans, denim shorts, street shoes) permitted.

  • Students will demonstrate across the floor technique, and learn a short dance combination.

  • Based on their ability, students will be placed in Dance 2 or Dance 3 or recommended for Dance 1.

Welcome to Monte Vista Dance

The Monte Vista dance program is designed for any student wishing to express themselves through artistic movement while having fun and making friends. We offer five different classes for ranges of interest and ability. Dance 1 is a beginning class for which any student can register. Dance 2 through Dance 5 are more advanced options and students are enrolled in the appropriate class following auditions.

All dance classes qualify for either Art or PE credit; however 9th graders are still required to take PE, and Freshman Dance students can receive Fine Arts credit.

Whether you have been dancing your whole life, or perhaps want to brush up and gain some confidence on the dance floor, there’s a place for everyone!
