10th graders may take this course if they are 16 by the first day of class.
This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions in the robotics industry. It is an instructional program that prepares individu-als to assemble, program, maintain and repair robotic devices. Included is instruction in the history and development of robots, types of robotic devices used in industry, computer control systems, robot computer language pro-gramming, and troubleshooting techniques. Integrated throughout the course are career preparation standards which include basic academic skills, communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving, workplace safety, technology and employment literacy.
