Journalism is a writing course that covers all forms of journalistic writing; news stories, editorials, sports, and various types of feature stories. Writing for the student newspaper is the emphasis of the course. Strong grammar and composition skills are required. As the class is responsible for the production of the Monte Vista Student Newspaper, The Stampede, students will be taught to copy edit, write headlines, scan photos, and general layout techniques. Word processing and computer skills are necessary and helpful.
