This course is offered to seniors for their senior English credit and for juniors as an elective if they are already enrolled in English 11. This course is designed for a college bound student. Students will integrate reading, writing, literary analysis, speaking and dramatic performance to come to a well-rounded understanding of the works of Shakespeare. The class will work on essays that prepare them for a freshmen university level literature course; read current fiction that ties in thematically with Shakespeare; research Elizabethan culture historically; understand the history of the English language and become familiar with Elizabethan words and grammatical structure; explore modern connections to Shakespearean characters and themes.
