U.C. and State University Certified Year Fall 9-12. Introduction to all 4 basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. German culture and geography are also introduced.

German 2
U.C. and State University Certified Year Fall 9-12. Prerequisite: C or better in German 1. Continuation of German I and the study and practice in the four foreign language skills. Preparation for the National German Exam Level II in January

German 3
U.C. and State University Certified Year Fall 10-12. Prerequisite: C or better in German 2. Intermediate level, stressing grammar and vocabulary in addition to selected works of classical and modern authors. Preparation for the January National German Level III Exam.

German 4 Honors
U.C. and State University Certified Year Fall 11-12. Prerequisite: C or better in German 3. Advanced course, conducted in German focusing on themes and vocabulary from modern and classical German literature; advanced review and use of grammar. Themes are varied from year to year to prevent duplication of material from Honors to AP. Both years include preparation for the January National German Level IV exam and the Advanced Placement exam in May.

AP German
U.C. and State University Certified Year Fall 11-12. Prerequisite: C or better in German 3. Advanced course, conducted in German focusing on themes and vocabulary from modern and classical German literature; advanced review and use of grammar.
