This is an honors level lab science course receiving a weighted grade, that covers human anatomy and physiology with emphasis on the physiology of human systems. It is recommended for students planning to pursue a four-year college program in the health or science fields (i.e. 4 yr. RN, Medicine, Physical therapy, Veternary, Pharmacy). This is a VERY HANDS ON course. A minimum of 55% laboratory time is devoted to gross (this means "large") (cat and other large animal organs) and microscopic anatomy as well as physiochemical lab investigations using human subjects. Each human body system is studied and is accompanied by histological examination, interactive labs and problem based learning problems that incorporate investigative web based activities, including forensics. A culminating activity will include the development of a web page devoted to tutorials on a particular body system.
