ACCESS CHOICES FOR TUESDAY-

 

FORENSICS:  Are you interested in a science lab class where you learn how to analyze crime scenes and take your evidence to court? Do you like doing labs? Forensic Science is now a “d” lab science. You are invited to come to an informational meeting during Access Tuesday February 14, or Tuesday February 21, or at lunch Tuesday February 21, or see Ms. Gilcrist in room 303 for more information.

 

Junior Prom:  All Juniors are going to the Gym Tuesday for Access Period to hear all about the Prom.  It is coming up in March!

 

 

Happy Black History Month!  Please join Monte Vista’s Black Student Union on Monday, February 13th in room 220 during lunch.  Everyone is welcome; hope to see you there! 

 

Happy Valentines!  Next Tuesday at lunch come down to the amphitheater to watch couples compete against each other in a fun Valentine’s Day activity!

Sports Parent Night moved to 2/23  We have a rain out for parent night!  Due to the rain that is forecasted all week, we have pushed Parent Night to 2/23 at 7:00 pm.  Tryout information for sports will be updated each day per weather conditions.  Andy Popper, Athletic Director 

 

Have your artwork featured in the Newspaper!

For the February edition of the newspaper we will be featuring artwork from our Monte Vista artists. If you would like your artwork featured you can send a photograph of your piece (portrait, sculpture, photograph, etc) to mvhsstampede@gmail.com along with a short description. If you don't have a photograph and you want your artwork photographed by one of our staff members you can also email us what period you are in your art class and we will send someone next week. Thanks!

MV Athletic Boosters Crab Feed - Saturday, March 25

Dads on Campus:  Have you ever wondered what your kid is thinking??   Come to Dads on Campus and learn about their responses to this question as help to parent more effectively.    On Thursday, 2/16 at 7pm Teen Esteem will provide vital information every dad needs to ensure your child is fully equipped to survive the challenges of today’s ever-changing world.

Are you looking for a way to support your MV Student?  Here is a list of some suggestions for parents to be engaged on the MV Campus

 

Dads on Campus: 2/16 7pm Library
Teen Esteem Speaker will provide vital info every Dad needs.  Speaker series with discussion as more than 40 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Next meeting is February in Library.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke ryanmeineke@yahool.com  

 

Parent Teacher Student Association – 3/10 10:30am Conference Rm
Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education, Every 15 Minutes and After School Tutoring.  President is Bridget Pelley  mbpelley@live.com

School Site Council- 3/9 3:30pm WSC 118
Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  The next meeting is in February.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton. 

Coffee with Kevin- 3/8 8:30am WSC 118
Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. The next Coffee with Kevin is scheduled for February 8. No RSVP needed.

Academic Boosters- 3/8 7pm WSC 118    
Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  Next meeting is February 8 @7pm, Library

Athletic Boosters- 4/10 7PM WSC 118
Fundraising for all Mustang Sports Teams to pay for additional services, support for our teams.  President is Mike Aha

Students of Excellence- 5/23 WSC Jumbotron  
In May is the 2nd Semester Students of Excellence. Teachers each nominate a student for the intangible efforts. The nominated student is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.  Nominations are submitted in April and then Parents/Students are notified.
