IT IS WHEELCHAIR WEEK:  10 chairs are in room 524 for you to experience school from a different perspective.  Just see Mrs Kerr and she will sign you up.  If you are not in a chair please be helpful and courteous to those that are….always. 

 

CITY OF ANGELS AT MV:  Oscars have you in that Hollywood mood? Keep it going by coming to see City of Angels, the award winning musical performed by MV drama, choir, and band!  Wednesday thru Saturday at 7pm in the theater. Tickets can be purchased online, at the door, or in the quad this week! 

 

LEADERSHIP INTERVIEWS: Meetings at lunch this week.  Attention Mustangs!! Are you interested in running for an elected position or interviewing for the leadership for next year? Senior class president, sophomore treasurer, rally chair or running the spirit committee? Then come to one mandatory meeting at lunch in room 209 this week of February 27th - March 2nd to get all the necessary information! See you there!

Academic Boosters Meeting, Wednesday, March 8- 10 am in room 118. If you have a sophomore or junior, you may be asking yourself,  "What happens now? What do I need to be prepared for? Where do I begin??” Well our main presenter will be Cathy Haberl. She will be discussing college prep. and what comes next. Come to our meeting, get the answers and also the, “What's happening" around MVHS. Hope to see you all there!

AP EXAMS:  Advanced Placement Exams are available for purchase on our student store at https://montevista.revtrak.net/ . You will have to create a user account if you do not have one already. From there you can click on the ‘AP Testing’ icon, or cut and paste https://montevista.revtrak.net/AP-Testing/#/list  into your web browser. Be sure to check that you are purchasing the correct exam. Exams are available for purchase through midnight on Sunday, March 19th, 2017.

*For all SRVUSD students that do not attend MVHS, please contact our bookkeeper, Mrs. Farrell, at ffarrel@srvusd.net to provide your name, contact information, and district student identification number. 

**Non-SRVUSD students are not eligible to test with us at this time. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Learning Disabilities and support services:
•Does your child have a difficult time with reading, mathematics, oral and/or written expression, social interaction, gross motor and/or fine motor skills, or other aspects of school work?
•Do you understand what identifies a child as having a learning disability? Do you suspect your child may have a learning disability and are unsure of who to talk to, how it can be addressed, or where to begin to help your child?
•Are you concerned about stigmatization or about how identifying and receiving services may affect educational prospects down the road?
•Did you know that special needs services also includes students who have food or other allergies, are identified as GATE or 2E/Twice Exceptional, or have ADD/ADHD?

Attention Juniors,  Junior Prom is here!  Junior Prom will be held on Saturday, March 11th from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at the Scottish Rites Center on Lake Merritt in Oakland.  Friday, February 17th – Sunday, March 5th tickets will be sold for $100 each and the last day to purchase tickets will be on Monday, March 6th for $110 each.  Tickets can be purchased online through the webstore and at lunch through the bookkeepers window while available.  Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable so be sure you plan on attending prom before you purchase your tickets!  You must have your ticket and current student ID card for admittance to the prom.

 

MV Athletic Boosters Scholarship – Award Program:  Attention Graduating Seniors: Did you participate in Monte Vista athletics?  Are you looking for some cash to help pay for college next year?  Or, are you planning to join the U.S. Military after graduation? Then you may be eligible for the Monte Vista Athletic Boosters Scholarship-Award Program

  • Up to six (6) $1,000 awards will be granted to Monte Vista student-athletes who demonstrate excellence through athletic participation, academic achievement, and service to Monte Vista High School.
  • Rules, eligibility guidelines, and the application form may be found on the school website (www.mvhs.schoolloop.com/athletic_scholarship).  Applications are being accepted now and must be received no later than April 1, 2017

MV Athletic Boosters Crab Feed - Saturday, March 25  The MVAB Crab Feed is March 25 at the Danville Community Center.  This fun event raises money for Monte Vista athletic programs.  The event sells out quickly.  More information and tickets here:  http://www.mvathleticboosters.org/mvab-crab-feed-2017/

 

“This is Us”   District-Wide PD Day     March 3, 2017, @MVHS  Keynote speaker: Terrence Roberts, a congressional gold medal recipient and a member of the Little Rock Nine.  All Staff are looking forward to learning and collaborating with classified and certificated colleagues from across the district.   All sessions designed to support district initiatives.

Dads on Campus:
Speaker series with discussion as more than 40 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Next meeting is March in Library.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke ryanmeineke@yahool.com  

Parent Teacher Student Association – 3/10 10:30am Conference Rm
Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education, Every 15 Minutes and After School Tutoring.  President is Bridget Pelley  mbpelley@live.com

School Site Council- 3/9 3:30pm WSC 118
Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  The next meeting is in February.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.

Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. The next Coffee with Kevin is scheduled for February 8. No RSVP needed.

Academic Boosters- 3/8 7pm WSC 118    
Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  Next meeting is February 8 @7pm, Library

Fundraising for all Mustang Sports Teams to pay for additional services, support for our teams.  President is Mike Aha

Students of Excellence- 5/23 WSC Jumbotron  
In May is the 2nd Semester Students of Excellence. Teachers each nominate a student for the intangible efforts. The nominated student is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.  Nominations are submitted in April and then Parents/Students are notified.
