DANVILLE YOUTH POLICE ACADEMY 6/5-9   Danville-area teens are invited to take part in a program aimed at providing them with the background and information to understand the role of law enforcement and how they can help keep their community safe.

The Danville Police Department is proud to offer a Youth Academy to current San Ramon Valley High School and Monte Vista High School students. The purpose of the youth academy is to increase youth’s understanding of police officers and their mission through hands-on training and education.

The intent of the program is to acquaint youth with law enforcement’s role in the criminal justice system and provide an increased understanding of the tasks police face in their daily work. This is a great opportunity for high school students who are either interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement or seek an understanding of law enforcement’s role in society.

Students will learn through a series of practical hands-on and classroom exercises, with topics that will include: Officer safety, building searches, officer use of force, arrest and control, handcuffing, traffic enforcement, high risk traffic stops, search and seizure, criminal law and crime investigation, force option simulator and patrol vehicle driving simulator.

The Youth Police Academy is scheduled for June 5- 9, 2017.

Please fill out and return the Youth Police Academy Application as soon as possible as space is limited!

Application deadline is May 5, 2017.
