LIBRARY SCHEDULE
The Workday Student Center will be closed both this week and next due to AP testing.  Please do not send student to print or use the restrooms in the building.  Food is being sold through the exterior access windows for the next two weeks.  If you do enter the building as a staff member PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure that the door locks behind you.  The latches don’t always latch easily and this is leading to constant herding of students back out of the building.  Thank you so much for your help.

WIFF:  Juniors and seniors, are you interested in playing Powder Puff this year, otherwise known as WIFF – Women’s Intramural Flag Football???  Then come to your grade level informational meeting next week to get your packet!   Seniors will meet Friday 5/5 at lunch in the Small Gym.  See you there!

MVHS PTSA Rubber Duck Derby Fundraiser - Friday, May 5  Don't miss the fun and a chance to win! Freshmen taking AP World Next Year: Meeting on Monday to find out about Summer Homework  There will be informational meetings on Monday, May 8th  from 3:30-4:30 upstairs in the Workday Center to review course expectations and summer homework. There will also be a meeting for your parents immediately following in the same room from 4:45-5:15.  Students and parents only need to attend ONE meeting. COFFEE WITH KEVIN:  May 17th 8:30am Don’t miss our last coffee of the year!  This new activity has educated us on so many aspects of our school, shown us student involvement, and allowed us a forum for discussion on issues relevant to parents of high school students.  Suggested summer reading:  How to Raise an Adult available at Rakestraw Books in Danville.

GRAD NIGHT. We are in the midst of finalizing everything for the big GRAD NIGHT Event on the U.S.S. Hornet.  Just remember, no matter what method of payment you use, YOU ARE REQUIRED to turn in ALL forms signed and completed. They must be dropped in the GradNight2017 box located in the attendance office. There are only 2 weeks left to register. SENIORS REPORT YOUR AWARDS   Due Friday, May 5 to be included in the Senior Inspirational Ceremony.  Please write down awards and honors you have received and accepted this school year ONLY.  This includes scholarships of the college you will be attending, grants, and any other academic recognition from this school year.  Report to jschikora@srvusd.net  by Friday May 5.

 

SENIOR NOTICE FOR LOST OR OVERDUE BOOKS:  Due May 19 Seniors are receiving notice this week that they need to return past due novels or textbooks.  It is important to get this done before the senior picnic on May 19th.  Delay in paying fine or returning books will possibly hold up your senior check out process and also senior activities.  All books can be returned to the textbook room before 1st period or during brunch. 

 

2017 PTSA Scholarships:  Due Friday, May 12, 2017
The Monte Vista PTSA values individuals who strive to make a difference outside of their own lives. Caps and Gowns pick up:  Distribution of Caps/Gowns from Jostens will be May 17th

Senior Breakfast:  May 19 breakfast in the commons from 7:45am – 8:15 (included in the gold card or purchase on the webstore)

Senior Inspirational Awards Ceremony:  Friday, May 19th from 8:15am – 10:00am in our large gym after breakfast.   

Senior Picnic to 6 Flags:  Leaving on bus 10am after Awards Ceremony.  Tickets are $35 and are not included in the gold card so purchase on the webstore by May 10.   Permission slips distributed in all Econ/Gov classes and due to Mrs Watson in Counseling by May 11.

1 CLOSET Community Service Opportunity from Wednesday, 4/26 to Friday 5/12.  Collection boxes will be in front of the Counseling Office.  This is an organization that is looking for new teen clothing.  Please help if you can. 

 

 

DANVILLE YOUTH POLICE ACADEMY 6/5-9   Danville-area teens are invited to take part in a program aimed at providing them with the background and information to understand the role of law enforcement and how they can help keep their community safe.  The Youth Police Academy is scheduled for June 5- 9, 2017.  Please fill out and return the Youth Police Academy Application as soon as possible as space is limited!  Application deadline is May 5, 2017.Youth Police Academy Application

Dads on Campus:
Speaker series with discussion as more than 50 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Next meeting is March in Library.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke ryanmeineke@yahool.com

Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education, Every 15 Minutes and After School Tutoring.  President is Bridget Pelley  mbpelley@live.com

Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.

Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. Summer reading will be discussed in this meeting. No RSVP needed.

Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  Next meeting is February 8 @7pm, Library

Fundraising for all Mustang Sports Teams to pay for additional services, support for our teams.  President is Mike Aha

In May is the 2nd Semester Students of Excellence. Teachers each nominate a student for the intangible efforts. The nominated student is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.  Nominations are submitted in April and then Parents/Students are notified.
