Congrats to the Monte Vista Women’s swim team!!!!!The Monte Vista girls team captured the NCS Title this past weekend.  The last time Monte Vista won the title on the girls side was 1990, 27 years ago.  They won seven swimming events, including the last four of the meet, on its way to a dominating team title with 313 points.  Zoie Hartmann captured 1st place in the 200IM with a new school record and 1st in the 100 Breaststroke, tying the existing school record.  Abrianna Howard took 1st place in the 100 Back and Makenna Turner took 1st in the 100 Fly breaking the school record as well breaking the school record in the 200Free.


The girls also swept all three relay titles. In the 200 medley relay, the squad of Abriana Howard, Zoie Hartman, Makenna Turner and Gillian Flath was victorious in 1:42.51 with a new school record. Isabella Barattolo, Gillian Flath, Alyssa Hornbuckle and Hartman won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:34.19 with a new school record. In the 400 freestyle relay, Monte Vista’s team of Makenna Turner, Isabella Barattolo, Jenna Seaman and Abriana Howard won in 3:27.54.


Also a big shout out to Elsie Harrison and Natasha Pantic for also contributing points to the championship.  Next up is State in Clovis.  


MV Student awarded in the Tri-Valley Writers contest.  Cianna Book won honorable mention in the poetry category for "Pretty Little Addict."The students worked hard to compose and polish their work, and we extend our congratulations to them and the teachers at Monte Vista.


Attention all AP Lang. Students for next year:  there is a mandatory summer reading meeting in Rm. 225 at lunch this Wednesday and Thursday.  You only need to attend ONE meeting.  We’ll review the summer reading assignment and will discuss the course.  Do not miss the meeting!  Thank you.

STUDENTS NEEDED: The MV Site Council is currently seeking one student volunteer for next year.  Student volunteers can come from the junior, sophomore, and freshman class only.  This is a two-year term. 


PARENTS NEEDED: The MV Site Council is currently seeking three parent volunteers for next year.  Parent volunteers must have a student attending the school each year of their service.   It is a two-year term. 


See your schoolloop email for further details about Site Council’s role at our school and the expectations we have for our volunteers.  It also contains directions on how to nominate yourself or someone else.  The nomination period closes at 3:30pm on May 19th.  Email or see Ms. Sexton in Room 308 with any further questions.    


COFFEE WITH KEVIN:  May 17th 8:30am Don’t miss our last coffee of the year!  This new activity has educated us on so many aspects of our school, shown us student involvement, and allowed us a forum for discussion on issues relevant to parents of high school students.  Suggested summer reading:  How to Raise an Adult available at Rakestraw Books in Danville. 


ATTENTION SENIORS:  Your cap & gown will be delivered on Wednesday, May 17th during brunch and lunch in front of the Main Office.  This is the only delivery day, so all Seniors must pick up their cap & gown at this time.


Academic Boosters meeting will be Wednesday May 17th at 7pm in the Library for incoming freshman parents.  This meeting date was changed from Wednesday, May 10th


Students of Excellence- 5/23 WSC Jumbotron  
In May is the 2nd Semester Students of Excellence. Teachers each nominate a student for the intangible efforts. The nominated student is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.  Nominations are submitted in April and then Parents/Students are notified. 


ENGLISH TUTORING:  The last day for after school tutoring is Friday May 19. 


Attention all Monte Vista Runners! Mandatory XC Meeting!  The State finalist, Monte Vista Cross Country Teams will be meeting on Thursday May 25th in the Commons at 3:15. If you are a returning MVXC athlete or interested in joining our team for the first time, please meet on the 25th to receive important information about Summer Run Club, Camp, the 300 and 500 mile clubs,  and details about our upcoming season!

SENIOR WEEK  May 15-19

Caps and Gowns pick up:  Distribution of Caps/Gowns from Jostens will be May 17th


Senior Breakfast:  May 19 breakfast in the commons from 7:45am – 8:15 (included in the gold card or purchase on the webstore)


Senior Inspirational Awards Ceremony:  Friday, May 19th from 8:15am – 10:00am in our large gym after breakfast.   


Senior Picnic to 6 Flags:  Leaving on bus 10am after Awards Ceremony.  Tickets are $35 and are not included in the gold card so purchase on the webstore by May 10.   Permission slips distributed in all Econ/Gov classes and due to Mrs Watson in Counseling by May 11. 


SENIOR CHECK OUT Thursday, June 1st at 12:45pm:  To participate in graduation, seniors receive a check-out form to make sure all the necessary steps are done before graduation.  Seniors check with each teacher for grades, counseling for final transcript and then finally in line on June 1st for Child Nutrition, Textbooks, Library, Locks and Bookkeeper.


SENIOR NOTICE FOR LOST OR OVERDUE BOOKS:  Due May 19 Seniors are receiving notice this week that they need to return past due novels or textbooks.  It is important to get this done before the senior picnic on May 19th.  Delay in paying fine or returning books will possibly hold up your senior check out process and also senior activities.  All books can be returned to the textbook room before 1st period or during brunch.

Breakfast is served outside of the large gym with practice starting immediately thereafter.

Seniors are to be in the large gym by 10 to receive information about graduation and rehearsal is anticipated to be finished around 11. 

The gates open at 4 for first come, first served seating.  Students report to assigned rooms at 5pm dressed in caps and gowns. 

GRAD NIGHT Friday, June 2 7:30pm
Grad Night is an all-night event sponsored by Senior Parents.

Summer of Programming and Game Design  Monte Vista High will be hosting summer camps for students to learn programming and 2 D video game design!  All proceeds received will be designated for

Dads on Campus:

Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education, Every 15 Minutes and After School Tutoring.  President is Bridget Pelley  mbpelley@live.com

Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.

Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  Next meeting is February 8 @7pm, Library
