Friday, September 22nd is the last day to drop a class without it appearing on the transcript. Students should speak with their counselor with any questions.

HOMECOMING:  Our 2017 MV Homecoming Dance is quickly approaching!  The dance is on Saturday, October 7th from 7-10pm and is semi-formal attire. The dance will include 2 DJ’s, games, AND FOOD TRUCKS!  Food Trucks are not included in the ticket price so be sure to bring money!


Tickets are $20 with ASB and $25 w/o ASB.  Tickets go on sale through the Web Store starting at 8:00 am Friday, 9/22 and will be available online through Tuesday 10/3 at midnight.  Tickets will also be available at the bookkeeper’s windows during lunch only Friday 9/29 through Tuesday 10/3 with current school ID card.  Students must have their current student I.D. card to get into the dance and there will be NO coat check available.  There are also NO guest passes for this dance, it is for MV students only.  Tickets are on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. Tickets will be available UNTIL they are SOLD OUT so buy your tickets EARLY.  No exceptions will be made for students who are not at school for whatever reason, please plan ahead and purchase your tickets EARLY!! Please note that this dance has sold out in the past.

CLUB FAIR ON FRIDAY  Monte Vista’s Club Fair will be held for students Friday, September 22nd at lunch. We have over 120 clubs this year, and many of them will be promoting themselves at the fair. This is a great way for students to get involved and learn about our clubs. Please be advised that there will be a dog at one of the tables, and that the students responsible for the dog will be instructed on proper procedures. If you have any specific concerns regarding the presence of a dog at the school, please contact Liz Pagano. MVHS MIT Launch Club Application

“Launch provides materials and mentorship support to high schools throughout the school year to allow students to develop entrepreneurial skills and mindset by launching startups. This is not a business plan contest. The aim is to create a real startup – to solve a real need in a differentiated way. The focus is on taking action, learning from results, and making changes to improve chances of success. ”

TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO APPLY FOR SCIENCE ALLIANCE 2017-2018  Science Alliance, a club recognized by the President of the United States for community service and the largest homegrown club at Monte Vista, is now accepting applications to become a mentor. CLICK HERE to access the application that is due on Friday, September 22nd. This includes the online application as well as the teacher recommendation form. 


If you love science and/or spending time with kids, Science Alliance is the club for you! In this club, mentors guide their own fifth grade buddy through a year-long Science Experiment, which the buddy then presents at the annual Science Fair. Members are given the opportunity to have a unique mentoring experience, gain extra credit in various MV science classes, and fill up community service hours and college applications. Moreover, non-senior mentors can apply for officer positions at the end of the year.

Want to apply for the Robotics Club?  We are Team 1458 of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), an international competition in which teams of high school students construct a robot to compete in a specialized game every year.  Active participation is critical to the team’s success during build season, a six-week period starting January 6th to February 20th.  If working with robotics and having fun as a team sounds like something you want to do, please complete the application on School Loop.

Academy Night:  The US service academies offer a unique and esteemed opportunity for high school grads. MVAB’s mission is to help MVH Athletics provide a positive atmosphere of sportsmanship and learning for the MVHS student-athlete and their athletic teams.  This is done by providing needed funding for a variety of capital improvements, as well as educational and program support.  Supporting these programs is only possible through your generous donations, including:

Dads on Campus:
Speaker series with discussion as more than 50 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke ryan.meineke@yahoo.com  Next meeting is September 20 at 7pm in Library. 

Parent Teacher Student Association 
Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education and After School Tutoring.  President is Janet Nunan.  Next meeting:  September 8 at 10:30 in Conference Room 

School Site Council
Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.  Next meeting is September 21 at 3:30 in WSC 118.  

Coffee with Kevin
Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. No RSVP needed.  The next Coffee is September 20th at 8:30am in WSC 118.  

Academic Boosters
Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  The next meeting is September 13th at 10am in WSC 118.  

Athletic Boosters  
Fundraising for all Mustang Sports Teams to pay for additional services, support for our teams.

Students of Excellence  12/17
Teachers each nominate a student for the intangible efforts. The nominated student is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.
