MARCHING BAND AND COLOR GUARD took 1st place in their Division this weekend, Percussion 3 place of all, Color Guard 2nd in Division at the Folsom Fall Festival.  And the beat goes on in the Marching Band Competition Season.  Way to go Mustangs!

If the book is not purchased by you before January, we cannot guarantee that there will be books for sale later in the year. So get those orders in now! SENIOR PORTRAITS Just a friendly reminder to make sure that your senior portrait (with drape, tuxedo, or cap and gown) gets scheduled and taken! You can schedule this through Creative Imaging's website, or call them at (925)485-6025! Please contact them with any questions about senior portraits. The deadline for formal portraits is at the beginning of December, so schedule your portrait today!


Academic Boosters Meeting, Wednesday, November 8th at 10 am. Please come join us for an exciting and informational meeting on Wednesday. We will be breaking into grade level meetings with counselors. This is an incredible opportunity to talk to school staff about what is going on, and a great time to voice questions. Please come join us, we look forward to seeing you all!


Our Annual Holiday Bake is a month away! Tis the season to show our love and appreciation for our wonderful teachers and staff at MVHS. Our goal is to bake enough Holidays goodies to fill each tray abundantly full of cookies, cakes, breads and holiday candies and treats.  However, the sign up has been very low of bakers!  We need your help- please ask your parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and neighbors, anyone who enjoys baking to sign up today.  Baking comes from the heart, doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced chef, or it’s your first time, please sign up to bake. 


In addition to needing bakers we also make beautiful gift baskets full of lovely gifts and gift cards from local restaurants.  Next time you’re at Costco, Home Store, Marshall’s, or eating out in Danville, please add a gift card to your order.

FACE IT EXHIBITION:  Village Theater Danville  Visit the “Face It” Art exhibit filled with artwork by 30 MVHS students and other district student artists.  The show will run through December 17 in the Village Theater downtown.

NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT:  On behalf of the Monte Vista Athletic Department, I would like to invite you to a brief recognition ceremony on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:30 am in the Library.  The student-athletes listed below will be signing a National Letter of Intent, which is a document used to indicate a student-athlete’s commitment to participating in NCAA D1 and DII Athletics.  Andy Popper, MVHS Athletic Director

To get a parking permit for 2018 MV students and parents must attend a two hour CHP Start Smart class. The presentations give teens and their parents/guardians opportunity to discuss the serious laws, obligations, responsibilities and family expectations that are part of driving a vehicle.  . All SRVUSD comprehensive high schools will offer 3-4 free classes each year that are open to anyone.  Classes are scheduled for MV Library at 7pm on 11/14, 1/25, 2/21, 4/18.  The class must be taken once during a student’s high school career.  CLICK HERE to register or for FAQ


Traffic Reminders for Monte Vista

Please talk with your family about the rules of the road and safe driving around the MV campus.      Thanks and be safe out there Mustangs!  


Students- Take your time leaving class and the parking lots.  Pausing for ten minutes may save your life and your bumper. Uturns across the Stone Valley double yellow are illegal and unsafe.


Parents- Save time and traffic by picking your student up at 3:45pm after the student has studied for 30 minutes in the library or WSC. 


Parents- Drop off/pick up in front of gym to take a legal left turn on Stone Valley at the light.    There is no legal left turn out of the horseshoe during pick up and drop off hours.


Pedestrians- Stay in the car until safe to exit to the sidewalk.  There is no drop off in red zone or mid street for your safety.    


MV Students Annual Adopt a Family and Adopt a Student drive is a heartwarming experience throughout campus.  By November 7th classes sign up to participate and gather the donations for Tuesday, December 5th disctibution.  The Adopt A Family donations go to the Salvation Army.  The Adopt A Student stockings go to our sister school at Verde Elementary School.  Thanks MV community for supporting these wonderful programs. 




MV Clubs:  Students, please email any Club Announcements to your advisor to submit for the bulletin.  This is a change so that the advisor may oversee and schedule the plans and activities of your club.   Thanks!


MV Paper Airplanes is having their third meeting Tuesday November 7th in room 524.  All approved tutors are required to attend. If you have any questions contact mv.paperairplanes@gmail.com


There will be a MV Hockey club meeting at lunch on Thursday Nov. 9th in the Sports Med room.


CANDY DONATIONS:  From Thursday the 2nd to Thursday the 9th, Pledge to Humanity is accepting donations of candy from you and your friends to help support local foster children! Make sure to save Your Halloween candy and bring it to school to donate to the needy. A bin will be located out in front of school! Hope to see you there!!!!

Tassajara Hills Elementary School is looking for cabin leaders for Walker Creek. They are looking for both male and female that are at least sophomores and in good academic standing. They are holding an informational meeting on November 2nd at Tassajara Hills at 4:00. You will need to attend one of the meetings.  If you are interested stop by the career center and pick up an application! The dates of camp are January 22rd- 25th 2018.  They need 10-12 females and 10-12 males, so grab a friend and join the fun at 5th grade outdoor education.  If you have questions or want more information contact Miss Yfantis @ syfantis@srvusd.net

Dads on Campus: 
Speaker series with discussion as more than 50 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke ryan.meineke@yahoo.com  

Parent Teacher Student Association 
Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education and After School Tutoring.  President is Janet Nunan.  

School Site Council
Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.  Next meeting is November 16  at 3:30 in WSC 118.  

Coffee with Kevin
Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. No RSVP needed.  The next Coffee is November 15 at 8:30am in WSC 118.  

Academic Boosters
Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  The next meeting is November 8 at 10am in WSC 118.  

Athletic Boosters   
MVAB’s mission is to help MVH Athletics provide a positive atmosphere of sportsmanship and learning for the MVHS student-athlete and their athletic teams.  This is done by providing needed funding for a variety of capital improvements, as well as educational and program support.

Teachers each nominate a student for the intangible efforts. The nominated student is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.
