Students of Excellence 12/12 at 3:30pm  
Invitations went out last week for students nominated this semester as a Student of Excellence.  If your student is nominated please return the RSVP to Mrs McFarland in the Principal Office.  Congratulations to those nominated!  Teachers nominate students that are hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.  The Reception honoring the students is held after school in the Library on Tuesday, December 12 from 3:30 to 4:30pm.    


DVC Parent Night 12/6 6:30pm Attention Parents of current Seniors: There will be a Parents Information and Financial Aid Night to find out what the DVC San Ramon Campus has to offer! Wednesday, December 6th 6:30pm – 8:00pm (Ridgeview Room Dougherty Station Community Center 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road San Ramon, CA 94582). Learn about be covering benefits of attending DVC, costs, financial aid, meet the faculty and hear from our Student Ambassadors. Please RSVP at srcinfo@dvc.edu.


BASEBALL  12/7 @lunch in small gym
There will be a meeting for all those interested in playing baseball at Monte Vista on Thursday.  Come for a brief meeting at the beginning of lunch in the small gym. 


Diving Information Session, Meet the Coach  12/8 @lunch  Springboard diving is returning to Monte Vista for the 2018 swimming and diving season.  There will be an informational session on 12/8 @ lunch in the Main Gym.  Come meet Coach Eric Holzheimer.  At this meeting you will get to learn more about diving, the requirements, practices, and competitions.  From absolute beginners to very experienced divers ~ ALL ARE WELCOME.  There will be both JV and Varsity teams.  Any questions in advance of the meeting can be directed to: srvusd18-mv@CALdiving.org


Keynoters will have Poinsettias for sale at the Instrumental Winter Concerts next Wednesday, December 6 & Friday, December 8. Price is $15 each or 2 for $25.

Your Change Can Change A Life  To support this fundraiser, students can bring in any change and put it into their 3rd period class mason jar!. Grateful Gatherings will use the funds to help a family furnish their home. The family could have nothing because they are a veteran, came from an abusive relationship, or maybe their house burned down in a fire.

Traffic Reminders for Monte Vista

Please talk with your family about the rules of the road and safe driving around the MV campus.      Thanks and be safe out there Mustangs!  


Students- Take your time leaving class and the parking lots.  Pausing for ten minutes may save your life and your bumper. Uturns across the Stone Valley double yellow are illegal and unsafe.


Parents- Save time and traffic by picking your student up at 3:45pm after the student has studied for 30 minutes in the library or WSC. 


Parents- Drop off/pick up in front of gym to take a legal left turn on Stone Valley at the light.    There is no legal left turn out of the horseshoe during pick up and drop off hours.


Pedestrians- Stay in the car until safe to exit to the sidewalk.  There is no drop off in red zone or mid street for your safety.    


FACE IT EXHIBITION:  Village Theater Danville  Visit the “Face It” Art exhibit filled with artwork by 30 MVHS students and other district student artists.  The show will run through December 17 in the Village Theater downtown.

Are you looking for a way to support your MV Student?  Here is a list of some suggestions for parents to be engaged on the MV Campus

Dads on Campus: 
Speaker series with discussion as more than 50 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke ryan.meineke@yahoo.com  

Parent Teacher Student Association 
Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education and After School Tutoring.  President is Janet Nunan.  

School Site Council
Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.  Next meeting is December 7   at 3:30 in WSC 118.  

Coffee with Kevin
Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. No RSVP needed.  The next Coffee is December 20 at 8:30am in WSC 118.  

Academic Boosters
Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  
 Athletic Boosters   
MVAB’s mission is to help MVH Athletics provide a positive atmosphere of sportsmanship and learning for the MVHS student-athlete and their athletic teams.  This is done by providing needed funding for a variety of capital improvements, as well as educational and program support.
