CHP Start Smart Event at Monte Vista on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 7pm in the Library. Although the event starts at 7pm, Ken Mintz, SRVUSD Board of Education President, will be in the Workday Student Center lobby starting at 6:15pm with AT&T’s  “It Can Wait” texting and driving simulator for the students to try before the presentation.  Remember, both parent and student must attend to meet the new parking pass requirements.

Do you plan on parking at MV next school year?  Then you need to attend one of these classes.  For 2018-2019 school year, all SRVUSD students and their parents/guardian must attend a Start Smart class to obtain a parking permit to park on their school campus.

What is Start Smart?

CHP’s Start Smart Driving Safety Class is a free, two-hour, driver safety education class for students between the ages of 15-20 years old and their parents/guardians. Start Smart provides an opportunity for teens and their parents/guardians to discuss the serious laws, obligations, responsibilities and family expectations that are part of driving a car. The goal is to promote and create safe driving habits around SRVUSD schools.

MV RED CROSS CLUB will be holding a blood drive on Friday, 1/26 in the library.  All students and staff over 16 years old are welcome.  Please bring a parent consent form (on school loop news) and driver’s license.  Thanks!

This month the Pledge to Humanity Club is collecting used crayons. We will sort them for a company called The Crayon Initiative, who melts down old crayons and make new ones for children in the hospital, to alleviate their stress by giving them art materials.

Swim team info will be posted at the pool Friday 1/26. Please make sure all paperwork is in and try-outs begin Feb. 5th    Thank you.  Lauren Braswell   Head Coach of MV swim and dive
