PARENT ED @ DVHS  TODAY 2/20 at 7:30pm  “Coping with Family Transitions: When Your Child Leaves Home.” This interactive workshop, led by Joe Ianora, will focus on the issues surrounding your child transitioning to the next phase of their life; and how you can prepare for a successful transition into a new family dynamic. During this workshop, you will have an opportunity to learn, share, discuss, and prepare for this transition; which can include: loss of purpose, anxiety, sadness, and joy.    While this workshop is open to ALL parents, there will be a specific focus for those parents who will be experiencing transition at the close of this school year. 

 

Joe Ianora is a licensed therapist who hasworked in secondary education for over30 years. .   If you are outbid you will receive an email notice so you can raise your bid.  If the item does not reach “Buy it Now” pricing, the highest online bid will be the opening bid at the live auction.  If no one else out-bids you at the live event, you’ve won your item! Online-only bidders will be notified of won items on Sat Feb. 24th.

FRIENDS OF SPECIAL OLYMPICS:  Meeting Thursday 2/22 at lunch in Rm 423.  All Polar Plungers must attend and bring signed permission slips. 

 

Attention Juniors, Junior Prom is here!  Junior Prom will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at the Scottish Rites Center on Lake Merritt in Oakland.  Tickets will go on sale Thursday, March 1st for $90 each for ONE DAY ONLY!!  Then starting on Friday, March 2nd – Sunday, March 18th tickets will be sold online for $105 each.  The LAST day to purchase tickets will be on Monday, March 19th for $115 each and can only be purchased through the bookkeepers window.  Tickets can be purchased online through the webstore and at lunch through the bookkeepers window while available.  Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable so be sure you plan on attending prom before you purchase your tickets!  You must have your ticket and current student ID card for admittance to the prom.  ALL junior prom ticket and contract information will be given out to juniors the week of February 26th

LEADERSHIP 2018:  Attention freshmen, sophomores, and juniors!  Are you interested in being in the leadership class next year?  Maybe a class president or a part of a committee?  Well, then join us at one of our mandatory information meetings at lunch on Monday, February 26th or Tuesday, February 27th or Wednesday, February 28th in the Leadership room to get the packet and necessary information!

 

Attention Seniors needing a midyear transcript- Please come in and speak with your counselor and/or Mrs. Schikora in the Counseling office. Many colleges are asking for midyear transcripts before making final admission decisions this Spring. Check your email and portals for correspondence from your colleges!

PARENTS ON CAMPUS

Are you looking for a way to support your MV Student?  Here is a list of some suggestions for parents to be engaged on the MV Campus

Dads on Campus: 
Speaker series with discussion as more than 50 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke ryan.meineke@yahoo.com  

Parent Teacher Student Association 
Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education and After School Tutoring.  President is Janet Nunan.  

School Site Council
Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.  

Coffee with Kevin
Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. No RSVP needed.  

Academic Boosters
Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  
Athletic Boosters   
MVAB’s mission is to help MVH Athletics provide a positive atmosphere of sportsmanship and learning for the MVHS student-athlete and their athletic teams.  This is done by providing needed funding for a variety of capital improvements, as well as educational and program support.
