Congratulations to the MV Soccer Teams for a terrific season. Both Men and Women went to the NCS Championship Match this past weekend and will continue in CIF.  Women are the NCS Champs with a 3:1 victory over Carondelet while Men were defeated in 1:3 battle against DLS.  Good luck in CIF MV!! 

 

Congratulations to the MV Mountain Biking Club with 8 cyclists scoring for the team in the first race at Fort Ord, Monterey in Division 1 of the NorCal South league on Saturday February 24th. The course was a great mix of single track and double track with some wide fire roads, and provided super fun rolling hills, old oak tree forest, and twisty turns. Shoutout to 8 cyclists racing for the first time.  .

 

LEADERSHIP 2018:  2/27 or 2/28 Meetings:  Attention freshmen, sophomores, and juniors!  Are you interested in being in the leadership class next year?  Maybe a class president or a part of a committee?  Join us at one of the mandatory meetings in leadership room at lunch on Tuesday, February 27th or Wednesday, February 28th  to get the packet and necessary information!

 

YEARBOOK:  Tuesday 2/27 at lunch, please come by Room Art 3 during the first fifteen minutes to get your application for next year's yearbook class! Come learn about an awesome class that's a little crazy, a lot of fun, gets you ready for a career in graphic design and publishing, and all colleges look for on your transcript. Some of our returning students and our Editors-In-Chief will be there to answer all your questions!

 

AP ECON INFORMATIONAL MEETINGWednesday 2/28.  Any Junior interested in taking AP Economics next year please swing by room 203 @ lunch on Wednesday 2/28. 

 

AP WORLD OR AP EUROPEAN HISTORY:  2/28  Attention all Freshman!  Are you interested in taking AP World History or AP European History next year? If so, come to one of our informational meetings to find out more about each course. The meetings will be held on 2/28 at Lunch, upstairs in the Workday Student Center and on 3/8 during Access, upstairs in the Workday Student Center. You only need to attend one of the meetings.

ART ELECTIVES CREATEOn Wednesday 2/28 at lunch we'll be chatting about the benefits and recommendations for each art class we offer, from Art 1 and 3D Art and Photo all the way up to our AP levels! Come and learn about this awesome program and learn how to support your friends during our first annual Arts Night coming up in May! This is a really important meeting when it comes to understanding the differences and requirements for each class

MV Athletic Boosters Scholarship – Award Program   Attention Graduating Seniors: Did you participate in Monte Vista athletics?  Are you looking for some cash to help pay for college next year?  Or, are you planning to join the U.S. Military after graduation? Then you may be eligible for the Monte Vista Athletic Boosters Scholarship-Award Program

 

Up to six (6) $1,000 awards will be granted to Monte Vista student-athletes who demonstrate excellence through athletic participation, academic achievement, and service to Monte Vista High School.

 

Rules, eligibility guidelines, and the application form may be found on the MV Athletic Boosters website (http://mvathleticboosters.org/mvab-scholarship/).  Applications are being accepted now and must be received no later than March 29, 2018.  In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Bill Bloore at ub21359@yahoo.com.

 

 

NEWS REWIND

Attention Juniors, Junior Prom is here!  Junior Prom will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at the Scottish Rites Center on Lake Merritt in Oakland.  Tickets will go on sale Thursday, March 1st for $90 each for ONE DAY ONLY!!  Then starting on Friday, March 2nd – Sunday, March 18th tickets will be sold online for $105 each.  The LAST day to purchase tickets will be on Monday, March 19th for $115 each and can only be purchased through the bookkeepers window.  Tickets can be purchased online through the webstore and at lunch through the bookkeepers window while available.  Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable so be sure you plan on attending prom before you purchase your tickets!  You must have your ticket and current student ID card for admittance to the prom.  ALL junior prom ticket and contract information will be given out to juniors the week of February 26th
