UP2U ASSEMBLY:  Monday, March 12th, Monte Vista will be hosting a program dedicated to increasing awareness of the negative impact of drugs and alcohol and encouraging students to make healthy, safe, and responsible choices.  This presentation will include video footage and guest speakers from our local Police and Fire Departments; a doctor, a recovering addict; and Ken Rogers, a former Monte Vista parent who has experienced tragedy related to this issue. If you or your student would prefer to opt out of this program, please have your student remain in class with their teacher when their assembly is scheduled.


UP2U PARENT PROGRAM:  Monday, March 12th at 7:00 pm in the Al Gentile Theatre.  Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for discussion and questions with the presenters, administrators, school counselors, and resource officer from Monte Vista.  Please join us for this very important opportunity to work as a team in addressing the issue of substance abuse and supporting our children in making healthy decisions.

Achieving Excellence by Keeping the Rules Monday, March 26, 2018 – 7pm – Monte Vista Theater  Lessons from NCAA and PAC-12 Investigations and Recruiting, Ron Barker, Associate Commissioner for Governance and Enforcement, Pac-12   This will be an informative and entertaining evening where we will hear from a former NCAA and current Pac-12 investigator and head compliance professional about the importance of keeping the rules AND what to do after mistakes are made.

PARENTS:  Helping Your Student Manage Stress  Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Monte Vista Theatre - Presentations by Discovery Counseling Center and Contra Costa Crisis Center. Learn practical tips for parents in helping to support our students and build resiliency.

2018-19 Course Selections: The online portal for requesting classes for the 2018-19 school year will be open March 12th and closes at 4pm on March 16th. To access the portal, go to the Monte Vista homepage and under Quick Links, click on Infinite Campus/Parent Portal. Another helpful resource is the Course Selection tab under the Counseling section on the Monte Vista homepage. The signed course selection worksheet is due back to your English teacher on Monday, March 19th!





Attention Juniors, Junior Prom is here!  CLICK HERE for tickets.  Junior Prom will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at the Scottish Rites Center on Lake Merritt in Oakland.  Tickets will be sold online for $105 each until Sunday, March 18.  The LAST day to purchase tickets will be on Monday, March 19th for $115 each and can only be purchased through the bookkeepers window.  Tickets can be purchased online through the webstore and at lunch through the bookkeepers window while available.  Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable so be sure you plan on attending prom before you purchase your tickets!  You must have your ticket and current student ID card for admittance to the prom. 


SAN RAMON HACKATHON:  April 7, 2018  Local high school student wants to bring the hackathon idea to focus on improving Emergency Preparedness with innovative ideas and apps for San Ramon.  Bring your creative mind and collaborate with teammates to work on this challenge -- and win cool prizes while having fun! This event is open to all Bay Area residents, including adults and high school students.  More info and registration at http://sanramonhackathon.org.


MV Athletic Boosters Scholarship – Award Program   Attention Graduating Seniors: Did you participate in Monte Vista athletics?  Are you looking for some cash to help pay for college next year?  Or, are you planning to join the U.S. Military after graduation? Then you may be eligible for the Monte Vista Athletic Boosters Scholarship-Award Program.   Rules, eligibility guidelines, and the application form may be found on the MV Athletic Boosters website (http://mvathleticboosters.org/mvab-scholarship/).  Applications are being accepted now and must be received no later than March 29, 2018.  In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Bill Bloore at ub21359@yahoo.com.
